Pretend Play | You're all invited to Meg's Tea Party

Meg loves Pretend Play. I don’t know where she gets all the ideas but she thinks of it instantaneously. Last week, she asked me to buy her a tea set. I nodded but the idea didn’t sink in entirely until she repeated it again a few days ago when we were studying for her Mastery Test. I asked her:

Me (Irene): Anak aanhin mo naman ang tea set?
Meg: For our Tea Party!
Me: Improvise muna tayo. Let’s use our imagination.

She got all her dolls and started to gather some materials for the tea party like notebook for the plate, her Barbie comb for the spoon, and the little cups we have at home for the tea cups. After 5 minutes, she stopped playing.

Meg: Ayoko na! Di naman totoo. Wala akong imagination.

Haha I laughed but at the same time I was thinking if I’d buy her a tea set or let it pass. I said to her I’ll buy it after all her tests.

I don’t invest much on Meg’s toys. If it isn’t necessary and I don’t feel the URGENT need to buy, I won’t buy. Plus, she has collected more toys as gifts to her. Then I saw these at the Toy section of SM Department store.
It’s from Disney and PINK all over! =) The BEST part? It’s really cheap and on SALE. I got the two sets for only 110.00. You can actually choose different kinds of tea set from SM ranging from 100.00-500.00.

When I got home, Meg couldn’t contain her joy and immediately INVITED Keira, Tori, Angela, and Jessica for a Tea Party. Haha!
So again I’m the best MOM in the world for Meg (and it doesn’t need an EXPENSIVE toy to be one).
For picture purposes lang ang Twinings ha. Akin yan. :)
: Where do you buy your toys? I’m looking for a cash register toy. The saleslady showed me two kinds with that concept but it’s battery-operated. I want a simpler one like this.

Now you know what the little girl is up to. :D

  1. I totally agree. Hindi din ako mahilig bumili ng expensive toys sa three-year-old ko kasi it is either stashed away or broken after few days kaya sayang lang. Pero just like you, I believe it doesn't make me a lesser mom. :)

    1. Naku sis yan din worry ko talaga. Hehe ang mamahal pa naman ng ibang toys. But if it's really worth the price and educational, mabibili ko talaga for her.

  2. Naku my son rin loves to pretend play! He keeps on asking me to buy him stuff like binoculars, xylophone, at kung ano ano pa. Sometimes he pretend to be in a band kasi, sometimes super hero, or like lately, he loves to pretend to be a captain of a ship. He has no expensive toys rin, he uses his bed for his ship, paper and pencil to draw a "radar".

Anyway, my husband and I love looking at Japan surplus shops! That's where we buy most of my sons toys. Although not good quality most times dun. but we were able to buy a light saber there for only 50pesos! I saw some cash registers rin before, you might wanna check it out.

By the way, I knew Keira and Tori hehe.. fave yan ng mga girls ko:)Yun ganyan cash register, meron din ganyan sa SM. Usually yun mga simple toys nila na nasa 50-100 pesos nakalagay sa Supermarket section (ay ewan ko lng pala sa ibang SM, sa SM Taytay kasi ganun). Good luck sa paghahanap

  4. I don't buy expensive toys for my daughter too. They usually got uninterested after a day or two. I buy at Toys R Us, I just scour for the cheaper toys though.

  5. Awww. Ang cute naman! Naku, my 4-year-old kasi has weird something sa toys eh. She doesn't use it sa totoong function nito. Napasobra sa creativity. Hehe.

  6. Aw she's so cute! I agree that inexpensive gifts doesn't make you a lesser mom. Nagsisisi nga ako minsan bakit ang mahal ng toys na binili ko for my first born kase he rarely plays with it. Buti ngaun he gets to choose his toys pero good thing napipili niya mostly p100 lang. How old is Meg? Nasa stage na kase sila ng pretend play din. Naku I have to get ready na my son is starting to turn his blocks into a pot. Hot daw ang coffee! lol
