Thank you Lord for this wonderful day.
We love you so much. Amen.

This was the prayer I heard from Meg (my daughter) the other night. Quite amazed but not really surprised, I asked her what the prayer is for. Meg answered: E dapat Thank You lagi tayo kay Papa Jesus, diba?

Yay medyo nahiya naman ako sa sagot ni Meg hehe... It's quite understandable that she is starting to be aware of things like this because of her school and I am actually pleased. So I thought, How will I strengthen this budding faith?

Prayer is one of the first things I taught Meg in her growing years. The simple definition that we could give our children is that Prayer is a way of talking to Jesus. In praying, it should be natural that the minds of our children should speak. Meg would always say, Lord thank you po sa Cheez Whiz kanina, ang sarap po ng tinapay ko. See? Ang simple lang naman ng gusto ng mga bata.

I always encourage Meg to pray all the time. As she opens her eyes in the morning to thank the Lord for another day, as she start her day at school to give her the wisdom the whole day, as she eat her snacks and lunch to thank the Lord for all the blessings, as she end her day at school to guide her, and as she close her eyes at night to thank the Lord again. I would also pray aloud and ask forgiveness and ask the Lord for something I earnestly need or want and I would explain it again to her. Kids look up to us so we need to look best for them.

Sacrifice is a big word but to our kids, how can we be able to explain this? If you save a part of your baon and share it to a friend, that is SACRIFICE. If you stayed at the classroom for a while to wait for your classmates, that is SACRIFICE. If you give your toys and clothes for the less fortunate, that is SACRIFICE. Sacrifice is something hard to explain to our kids and I admit, this value is a continuous learning process not only for Meg, but also for me.

Jesus said to grow in holiness, we have to give it all - sacrificing something or giving up something for a better cause. This may sound something so difficult for the kids and even for us adults. But the only way to continue to strengthen their faith is to explain that LOVE means to be able to develop the habit of sacrifice - may it be small or big.

The best way to teach love is to be again role models for our kids. Meg and her cousin Kieran would always fight over small things and Meg will not easily forgive or forget what happened. Sasabihin ko naman, diba love mo sya? Dapat di kayo nag-aaway. I know it is not always the case, kasi minsan may nakakaaway din naman tayo diba? In reality, we should show love to our kids and to other people so that they could also love in return. It's better to start at an early age so that until they grow into adults, they would still continue loving.

Love is the most precious gift that God has given us. In the case of our relationship to our children, showing our love to them is very important so that they will always be comfortable to us and our bond will be strengthened. That way also, they can reflect that love to other people. Sabi nga, we should love everyone, even our enemies. Medyo higher level na yung enemies, so little by little lang natin yun ipa-manifest sa mga kids. =)

Sharing this song that you can also teach to your kids.
Little by little every day
Little by little in every way
Jesus is changing me
Since I’ve made a turnabout face
I’ve been growing in His grace
Jesus is changing me
He’s changing me, my precious Jesus
I’m not the same person that I used to be
Sometimes it’s slow going
but there’s a knowing
That one day perfect I will be.
I can't find a kids' video for this but just to give you an idea of the tune, here it is:

Nice no? I know I am not that super knowledgeable and spiritual able to share all the tips on strengthening our kids' faith but it all boils down to one thing --- LOVE

Hello hello! Remember my post about CHAMPS vitamins? You can see my post about it here . Meg has been using the CHAMPS M (with Pedia's...
Last Thursday, July 18 2013, I was invited to an Amici event as they showcase new dishes in celebration of their 6th year Anniversary. Since I am a big lover of their pizza, pasta, and gelato (YES!); I immediately confirmed my attendance.

I've eaten a few times at Amici Ayala triangle and I really love their dishes. The fact that it's inexpensive for a real Italian dish is also a PLUS for me.

The event was started by Mr.Danny Moran (current President and CEO of Amici Foodservice Ventures, Inc.) and he retold the story behind Amici. I was surprised since I thought Amici is a foreign company. With humble beginnings that started at Don Bosco canteen, they started to offer gelato followed by the pasta and pizza dishes, and also their bestseller coffee for the employees.

The discovery of the different dishes led them to open a new business venture which they called Amici Di Don Bosco (Friends of Don Bosco) so that they can also offer it to the students studying at Don Bosco. Word of mouth spread over the Metro as people come and enjoy the pizza, the warmth of the place and great Italian cuisine.

As Mr.Danny Moran continued his story, he looked back to the time he was planning to invest on a business and someone told him that a little pizza place at Don Bosco is a potential candidate for investment and expansion. He talked to the Salesian priests of Don Bosco and after the negotiations and the established friendship between the two parties, the priests agreed as long as they won't change anything and to continue support the Tuloy Foundation which focused on helping the street children.

Until now, with 8 restaurants all over Metro Manila, they continue the value of sharing from the friends of Don Bosco and Tuloy foundation as they give their costumers the warmth and the coziness of the place. Amici maintains the impression that their restaurant is a place for family and friends sharing fun celebrations and creating memories.
Ok now let's continue...

As Amici celebrates its 6th year Anniversary, they will offer ten new dishes to add to their bestsellers.

1. Asian Chicken Salad (P195)
Breaded chicken slices, oranges, and carrots mixed over greens and topped with fried wonton strips, served with sesame dressing

This is actually kind of a cheat salad for me because of the fried wonton strips but I like it. =) The chicken slices combined with the vegetables and oranges plus the sesame dressing makes this salad complete and healthy. I love the taste of the dressing, just the right combination of sweet and sour that complements the taste of the breaded chicken slices.

2. Mediterranean Blue Cheese and Walnut Salad (P195)
Blue cheese, candied walnuts, arugula, and grapes combo over greens and served with red wine vinaigrette

Because I'm not really a fan of blue cheese, I didn't appreciate this salad. But surprisingly, when I combined the greens with the candied walnuts and grapes plus the vinaigrette, I liked it! I'm guessing it's because of the candied walnuts that did the trick.

3. Truffle Mushroom Pizza (P430)
A luxe choice with portobello, shitake, and porcini mushrooms, mixed with truffle oil, mozzarella cheese, and topped with Arugula

I love the meaty flavor brought by the Portobello mushroom, and the tasty flavors of the Porcini and Shitake mushroom. You don't really need meat for your pizza if it's so delish already with truffle oil and yummy mozzarella cheese.

4. Smoked Salmon Top-Crust Pizza (P395)
Pizza variety with smoked salmon, capers, black olives, tomatoes, béchamel sauce and mozzarella cheese embedded in a crispy pizza crust

This again is not my type of pizza maybe because I don't eat salmon but the uniqueness of how it was presented and embedded in a crispy pizza crust is a must-try.

5. Prosciutto & Artichoke Cream Pizza Roll (P242)
Artichoke cream, cream cheese, prosciutto, and arugula, all tempered with reduced balsamic vinegar

6. Prosciutto Portobello Pizza Roll (P242)
Prosciutto, portobello mushrooms, cream cheese, and arugula served with roasted garlic dip

Both pizza rolls are very flavorful and every bite is stuffed with cream cheese.

7. Penne Rosa & Bacon (P252)
a combo of bacon, pomodoro, and bechamel sauce sautéed with mushrooms, garlic and onions

I love the combination of Pomodoro and bechamel sauce giving it an extra-taste. I think Meg will love this, too.

8. Garlic Chorizo Spaghetti(P250)
Pasta dish of Spanish chorizo sautéed in garlic and olive oil

This is a super WINNER for me. I can eat this all day haha! I love how flavorful the garlic with olive oil is. Plus it has a ridiculous amount of garlic. Super sarap!

9. Chicken Parmigiana(P328)
Breaded chicken meal in tomato meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, served with rice pilaf and a side of roasted vegetables

10. Pork Marsala(P332)
Rolled pork specialty filled with ham and cheese, button mushrooms, and cream, all reduced in marsala wine and served with rice pilaf and a side of roasted vegetables

These two rice meals are super delicious, both creamy and super sulit!

And there you have it, with all these ten new dishes, my most favorite and I greatly recommend are the Asian Chicken Salad, Truffle Mushroom Pizza, Penne Rosa & Bacon, and Garlic Chorizo Spaghetti.

After all these delectable dishes, we were then served gelatos! Yehey yehey! =)
In addition to these new dishes, Amici will be having a Pizza Fest on Saturday July 27, 2013 as a celebration of their 6th Anniversary. You can get a special Buy 1 Take 1 offer on Amici pizzas.
